Robert Wilhelm Bunsen (1811–1899) was a German chemist who discovered the alkali-group metals cesium and rubidium. He also found an antidote to arsenic poisoning (1834) and invented the carbon-zinc electric cell (1841). He is best remembered by every chemistry student for the development of the Bunsen burner.
