Descended from Italian immigrants, Joseph “Joe” Satriani (b. 1956), aka Satch, was born in Westbury, New York. He was recruited by Mick Jagger and then toured with Deep Purple as the lead guitarist. He is considered to be a highly technical rock guitarist and has been referred to as a top guitar virtuoso.
