Named in honor of Per Olof Lindblad, Swedish astronomer, director of the Stockholm Observatory at Saltsjöbaden. He has served as president of the council of the European Southern Observatory and is currently a vice president of the IAU. He is the son of the astronomer Bertil Lindblad (1895–1965) {see planet (1448)}. (M 18455) _ _.
