Named by the first discoverer for the town in which he lives, some 100 km west of Tokyo. The name of this town means “foot” in English. Mt. Fuji {see planet  (1584)} can be seen 25 km to the northwest and Mt. Hakone {see planet  (1098)} 10 km to the east of the town.
