Named for a city in eastern Hiroshima {see planet  (2247)} prefecture. Blessed with abundant natural beauty, Onomichi has been artistically captured by many Japanese novellists and artists. It has also been featured on film, thanks to the Onomichi Trilogy directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. Onomichi is the terminal city on the Honshu side of the new Nishiseto Expressway {see planet  (9235)}.
