Named for Taira-no Koremori (1160–?), a Japanese military commander who was the eldest son of Taira-no Shigemori {see planet (4376)}. In 1183 he was beaten by the Genji (Minamoto) forces. It is believed that he drowned himself in the Pacific Ocean. (M 19696) _ _.
